This dictionary is prepared on the basic level and on the basis of 'Kurmanji (Kurmancicirc;)' dialect. This work consists of two parts as 'Kurdish-English' and 'English- Kurdish' sections. After a brief information on Kurdish alphabet and phonology, including International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) signs, some extra useful parts are added to the dictionary for daily speech, some of which are titled as ldquo;Days-Months- Numbers-Colors- Vegetables-Fruits- Some Kurdish private names- Subordinating Conjunctionsrdquo; etc. Moreover, at the end of the dictionary, there is a practical list of verbs for the readers.

One of main reasons to prepare this work is to contribute to the improvement of Kurdish language and to the peace of humankind no matter how much it is. Moreover, this special work is going to help the ones who are interested in learning Kurdish Language in any parts of the world on condition that they know a basic level of English. I see it necessary to mention the expression which, to me, strikes the right cord: ldquo; If the people spoke more languages, the wars would be less.'
