Ikuo Hirayama

Japon resim sanatı Nihonganın 20. yüzyıldaki en önemli temsilcilerinden biri olan Ikuo Hirayama, eserlerinde İpek Yolunu tema edinmiş ve bu güzergâhta yaşamı boyunca gerçekleştirdiği 100ü aşkın seyahatle Türkiyeyi de pek çok kez ziyaret etmiştir. 1988de UNESCOnun ilk Japon İyi Niyet Elçisi, 1995 yılındaysa Dünya Kültürel Mirası danışmanı olarak atanan Hirayama, özellikle Ortadoğuda yaptığı incelemeler ve resimlerinde konu aldığı antik yerleşimlerle kültürler arasındaki alışverişi vurgulamıştır. 2009 yılında kaybettiğimiz sanatçı bu kez de resimleriyle Batıyla Doğunun buluşma noktası olarak nitelediği Türkiyeye konuk oldu.

Ikuo Hirayama, one of the most well-known representatives of Japanese-style painting Nihonga, took the Silk Road as the main theme of his paintings and paid several visits to Turkey throughout his 100 plus journeys to this route. Hirayama was appointed as Japans first Goodwill Ambassador to UNESCO in 1988 and Special Advisor to the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage in 1995.
