Late Antique Jewelry and Accessories

Jewelry and accessories unearthed in their archaeological contexts during the excavations for railway construction at Yenikapı, Sirkeci, and Vezneciler under the direction of Istanbul Archaeological Museums, create a unique collection with very few parallels in the world. This collection of artifacts enables us to evaluate the sophisticated techniques, material preferences, and aesthetic notions of Late Antique jewelers of the city as well as various political and social aspects of the Byzantine Empire.
