Jane Eyre has been considered a masterpiece of feminist literature. It has a tremendous emotional appeal and is one of the greatest works of Victorion fiction. The story is woven around a governess, Jane Eyre, the orphan daueghter of a poor parson. She lives under th careof her aunt Mrs Reed in Gateshead Hall who ill-treats her and sends her to a boarding school where she excels in studies and finally is appointed as a governess to a little French girl, Adele, the ward of the master of Thornfield Hall, Edward Rochester.
Despite her simplicity and innocence, she captures the hearth of her enigmat,c employer, Edward Rochester. But soon she discovers he has a secret that could jeopardise any hope of happiness between them. Will Jane Eyre's story have an happy ending? The reader enjoys the melodrama which is beautifuly fused in the story.
